Welcome to my digital garden
Hello, I’m Laura!
I am based in Subtropical Australia and am very interested in all things permaculture, gardening, sustainable design and living.
I started this digital space as a way to share my musings, research and learnings. I plan to tend to my ideas and thoughts on all things relevant and important to me at a given point in time - you can kind of think of it as an ‘everything blog’.
For now, this will mostly look like permaculture-y, garden-ey thoughts.
But as humans are wonderfully multi-faceted, it will likely also contain musings on topics ranging from technology, finance and anything in between that catches my interest.
I am consciously using this space to ‘learn in public’, so it will not be a classically, fully researched blog.
Philosophy
Based on a bit of researching on digital gardens, I will try to be guided by the following principles or philosophies:
exploring > explaining
This is a space for my own learning, so please take everything said here with a grain of salt and do your own research too.
I will also try and mark posts with their varying levels of done-ness, so you can get a quick read on how well-formed or researched I think a particular post/idea is.
I think I’ll try and use a rating system such as:
🌱 seedling - a very fledging idea or note. E.g. a thought or idea I might try.
🌷 budding - a somewhat researched/coherent idea. E.g. An idea I’ve researched, and am planning to implement (or in the process of implementing)
🌳 evergreen - a well-formed thought or idea. For example, I’ve actually implemented the research/plan and have real-life experience.
imperfect and organically growing
There won’t be a set schedule for posting, or series of posts that I intentionally make. The content is intended to grow and evolve over time as I work on and grow in different areas.
This also means I won’t be a perfectionist on the content, or on the site itself. I’m actively trying to not put too much effort into making a beautiful website, or making things read very nicely (As much as I’d really like to make a gorgeous, whimsical site that feels like Stardew Valley).
That’s it for now!
